Holiday planning

Long Weekend Finder

Find long weekends and possible bridge-day opportunities for a selected country and year. Use it to spot realistic time-off windows before booking travel, planning office coverage or scheduling launches.

Best used for

  • Time-off planningFind periods where one public holiday can create a three-day or longer break.
  • Bridge-day decisionsIdentify cases where taking one workday off may connect a holiday with a weekend.
  • Operational coveragePlan support, travel and launch schedules around likely low-availability periods.

Formula and method

This tool uses the Nager.Date /api/v3/LongWeekend/{Year}/{CountryCode} endpoint. It does not infer bridge days from hardcoded local rules. When bridge-day fields are missing or empty, the table says so rather than inventing suggestions.

Example

If a public holiday falls on a Friday, a Friday-to-Sunday period can become a 3-day long weekend. If a holiday falls on Thursday, Nager.Date may mark Friday as a bridge-day opportunity when the API has that data.

Limitations

Holiday and bridge-day data is fetched from Nager.Date. The API does not represent every employer policy, school calendar, bank-only holiday or local observance. Use official local sources before making legal, HR, payroll, travel or compliance decisions.
