Percent is not always the course grade
An assignment percentage is only one piece of a course grade when categories are weighted. Use the weighted grade calculator if homework, exams, labs or participation have different weights.
Example
If you earned 43 points out of 50, the grade percentage is 43 / 50 x 100 = 86%. If extra credit is entered, it is added to earned points before the percentage is calculated.
Common mistakes
Do not enter a weighted category percentage as if it were raw points. Also check whether your teacher caps extra credit or uses a grading scale that converts percentages to letter grades differently.
Limitations
This calculator returns a points-based percentage. It does not decide course policy, grading curves, dropped assignments or weighted category rules.
