Equity is volatile
Actual RSU taxes, sale proceeds and withholding depend on jurisdiction, broker, employer plan and share price at vest and sale.
Example
If 1,000 RSUs are granted, 25% vest, the share price is 45 and withholding is 30%, the vested gross value is 11,250 and the estimated net value is 7,875.
How to use the estimate
Use the result to separate gross vested value from the amount left after an entered withholding rate. Your final tax bill can still be higher or lower than withholding.
Limitations
This is not tax advice. RSU taxation varies by country, state, employer plan and sale timing. Share prices can also change before you can sell.
