Number conversion

Fraction to Percent Calculator

Convert a fraction into percent and decimal form.

Example

3 / 8 = 0.375, and 0.375 x 100 = 37.5%.

How to use the result

The percent tells you how large the numerator is compared with the denominator. In a test score, 3 correct answers out of 8 would be 37.5%.

Common mistakes

Keep the denominator as the total or whole. If the numbers are two separate parts of a ratio, add the parts first before converting one part to a percent of the whole.

Limitations

The denominator cannot be zero. Negative signs are preserved mathematically, so -1 / 4 becomes -25%.
