Starting ratios
A 1:15 to 1:17 ratio is a common starting range for filter coffee. Espresso, French press, cold brew and immersion recipes can use very different ratios. Treat the result as a repeatable starting point and adjust grind size, brew time and taste from there.
Example
With 500 g of water and a 1:16 ratio, coffee amount is 500 / 16 = 31.25 g. If you brew two 250 ml cups, that is the same total water amount and roughly 15.6 g coffee per cup.
Common mistakes
Use grams when possible. Measuring scoops vary by roast level and grind size, so volume measurements can drift even when the ratio looks the same.
Limitations
The calculator sets the recipe ratio only. It does not control grind size, water temperature, brew method, contact time, extraction yield or taste preference.
