Cooking Time Adjustment Calculator

Scale a recipe's cooking time by a percentage and record temperature context.

Food safety note

This calculator is arithmetic only. Safe cooking depends on food type, thickness, starting temperature, oven accuracy and verified internal temperature. Do not use a percentage adjustment as a safety guarantee for meat, poultry, seafood or reheated food.

Example

A 40-minute bake adjusted upward by 15% becomes 46 minutes. If the oven temperature also changes, use the result as a check-in time rather than a guaranteed finish time.

Common mistakes

Do not assume a hotter oven always saves time evenly. The outside may brown faster while the center remains undercooked, especially for large roasts, bread or dense casseroles.

Limitations

Use thermometer readings and recipe-specific doneness cues for safety-sensitive foods. The calculator does not model food thickness, pan material, fan ovens or altitude.
