Tile Calculator

Estimate tile count from area, tile size and waste allowance.

Layout matters

Diagonal layouts, small edge cuts and pattern matching can increase waste. Measure tile area in the same area unit as the project area.

Example

A 120 square foot room using 1 square foot tiles needs 120 tiles before waste. With 10% waste, the estimate becomes 132 tiles, rounded up to whole pieces.

Common mistakes

Do not forget cuts around doors, edges, fixtures and pattern alignment. Large-format tile can need extra waste if broken pieces cannot be reused.

Limitations

This estimate does not include grout, trim, underlayment, layout direction, breakage beyond the entered waste percentage or minimum box quantities.
