Pyramid Volume Calculator

Calculate pyramid volume from rectangular base dimensions and perpendicular height.

Height is vertical

Use perpendicular height from the base plane to the apex. Slant height is a different measurement used for surface area.

Example

If the rectangular base is 8 by 6 and the height is 10, the base area is 48. The pyramid volume is 48 x 10 / 3 = 160 cubic units.

How to use the result

Volume is useful for estimating capacity or material in a pyramid-like shape. Surface area needs additional side or slant measurements.

Common mistakes

Do not use the sloped edge as height. The height must be the straight vertical distance from the base to the apex.
