US versus Imperial MPG
This page uses US gallons. Imperial MPG is different because the Imperial gallon is larger; use the full fuel efficiency converter if your source uses UK-style MPG.
Example
35 MPG US converts to 235.214583 / 35 = about 6.72 L/100 km.
Common mistakes
Remember that lower L/100 km is better, while higher MPG is better. The direction of improvement reverses between the two units.
Limitations
This is a unit conversion only. Real fuel use depends on driving conditions, vehicle load, speed, tires, weather and measurement method.
