Household definitions matter
Household income can be before tax, after tax, equivalized, cash-only or include transfers depending on the source. Do not compare numbers from different definitions.
Example
If household income is 110,000 and the benchmark p75 is 115,000, the estimate will place the household slightly below the 75th percentile for that dataset.
Common mistakes
Do not compare individual income with household benchmarks. Also check whether the benchmark uses household size adjustments or includes government transfers.
Limitations
This calculator does not include live official data. It only interpolates between the benchmark values you enter and should not be treated as a complete economic analysis.
