Media calculator

File Size Calculator

Estimate video or audio file size from bitrate and duration.

Useful for upload and storage planning

Use this calculator to estimate storage needs before recording, exporting or uploading media. Real exported files can differ because of variable bitrate encoding, metadata, subtitles, thumbnails and container overhead.

Example

A 10-minute video at 8 Mbps plus 0.192 Mbps audio has a total bitrate of 8.192 Mbps. Over 600 seconds, that is about 614 MB before the container overhead setting is applied.

Common mistakes

Mbps means megabits per second, not megabytes per second. Divide bits by 8 to estimate bytes, then account for overhead and encoder behavior.

Limitations

The result is an estimate. Variable bitrate exports, multiple audio tracks, subtitles, thumbnails, metadata and platform-specific processing can change the final file size.
