Method
Fat provides about 9 kcal per gram. The calculator multiplies calories by the selected percentages, then divides by 9.
Example
At 2,200 calories per day, a 20% to 30% fat range equals 440 to 660 calories from fat. Dividing by 9 gives about 49 to 73 grams of fat per day.
Common mistakes
Do not treat total fat grams as the only diet-quality measure. Saturated fat, unsaturated fat sources, overall calories, fiber and food pattern also matter.
Limitations
This is nutrition planning context, not medical advice. Medical conditions, lipid disorders, pregnancy, eating disorders and sport demands can change appropriate targets.
