Unit conversion

Conversion Calculator

Convert a value using a custom factor and optional offset.

When to use this calculator

Use this when you already know the conversion factor, such as converting inches to centimetres with a factor of 2.54. Use offset 0 for most linear unit conversions.

Example

To convert 10 inches to centimetres, enter value 10, factor 2.54 and offset 0. The result is 25.4 centimetres.

When to use offset

Temperature-style conversions can need both a factor and offset, but the main unit converter is better for common units because it already includes the standard temperature formulas.

Common mistakes

Check whether the conversion is value x factor or value divided by factor. If you are converting back the other way, you may need the reciprocal factor.
