Construction calculator

Brick Calculator

Estimate bricks needed from wall area and brick face area, with mortar and waste allowances.

Measure consistently

Wall area and brick face area must use the same unit system. Openings, corners, bond pattern, cuts and local masonry practice can change the final order quantity.

Example

If wall area is 100 square feet and effective brick face area is 0.11 square feet after mortar allowance, the raw estimate is about 910 bricks. A 5% waste allowance raises that to about 956 bricks.

Common mistakes

Do not forget openings, corners, broken bricks and the chosen bond pattern. A decorative pattern can use a different count than a simple running bond.

Limitations

This calculator estimates count only. It does not size footings, lintels, wall ties, mortar volume, structural reinforcement or code requirements.
