Appliance Energy Cost Calculator

Estimate appliance kWh and annual cost using your own electricity price.

Use your actual tariff

This calculator does not fetch live electricity prices. Enter the price per kWh from your bill or tariff. Real bills can include fixed charges, time-of-use rates, taxes and grid fees.

Example

An appliance using 1,200 watts for 1 hour, 200 times per year, uses 240 kWh annually. At 0.20 per kWh, the active-use cost is about 48 per year before standby power or fixed bill charges.

Common mistakes

Watts and kilowatts are easy to mix up. A 1,200 W appliance is 1.2 kW, not 1,200 kW. Also check whether the appliance cycles on and off; the nameplate wattage may not equal average draw over a full use.

Limitations

The estimate is best for comparing appliances or habits. It does not model seasonal tariffs, demand charges, solar self-consumption, battery storage or utility taxes.
