Screening, not diagnosis
BMI does not measure body fat directly and can misclassify some athletes, older adults, pregnant people and people with unusual body composition.
Example
For a height of 175 cm, the adult BMI 18.5 to 24.9 range corresponds to about 56.7 kg to 76.3 kg.
How to use the result
Use the range as a broad screening reference. Waist measurement, body composition, medical history and age may matter more than BMI alone.
Limitations
This calculator is not suitable for children, pregnancy or clinical diagnosis. It should not be used as the only measure of health.
